What engines are Mercury Black Max propellers designed for?

Black Max aluminum propellers fit most Mercury/Mariner outboards from 2.5 HP up to 250 HP and MerCruiser Alpha/Bravo One sterndrives (with appropriate Flo-Torq hub kits). Always verify gearcase size and WOT RPM range.

How do I choose the right Black Max pitch?

Match pitch to your engine’s recommended WOT RPM range and boat load. If your current prop over-revs, increase pitch; if it under-revs, decrease pitch. Use our size chart on this page as a starting point and water-test to confirm.

Do I need a Flo-Torq hub kit for a Black Max propeller?

Most models use Mercury’s modular Flo-Torq system. Some props include the hub; others require a separate kit. Check your engine/gearcase and part number to choose the correct hub hardware.

Are Black Max propellers good for everyday use?

Yes. Black Max props are durable Mercalloy aluminum with a value-first design—ideal for general-purpose boating on boats typically under 50 mph.
